Lilium Species Foundation

Preservation through Cultivation and Education

The Lilium Species Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of Lilium species and their natural habitats through private and public cultivation and education. Our mission is to encourage enthusiasts to grow true lily species as a means of safeguarding their genetic diversity and ensuring their survival for future generations. Through outreach, research, and the responsible distribution of seeds and bulbs, we seek to make rare and significant species more accessible to growers, breeders, and gardeners worldwide, while fostering a deeper understanding of their ecological and cultural importance.

Established in 2018 as an online community of individuals from around the world dedicated to the study, cultivation, and conservation of true lily (Lilium) species and their habitat as well as related plants. Our members include researchers, horticulturists, and private growers who actively cultivate species lilies in their own gardens and collections, contributing to the preservation of genetic diversity outside the wild. The Foundation cultivates a wide range of Lilium species and aims to make plants, seeds, and bulbs available to both members and the general public. This site hosts our quarterly blog and newsletter, featuring photographs and in-depth articles on Lilium species, updates on current projects and future plans, and practical guidance on the cultivation and care of true lilies.

We invite you to join us in this shared endeavor to explore the extraordinary diversity of lilies and the rich ecological and cultural landscapes in which they grow.
